Mbanza-Kongo – A 58-year-old national citizen was arrested on Monday in Nzeto, northern province of Zaire, for allegedly facilitating illegal immigration.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the spokesman for the National Police in Zaire, Lieut.tenant Luís Bernardo, explained that the accused, resident in Luanda, was arrested at the Estraga Lar public transport pick up spot, located in the Kitona neighborhood, when he was trying to transport to Luanda, two DRC citizens in an irregular migration situation.
These are citizens Chimene Ngone and Rebeca Lucau, aged 32 and 23 respectively.
Luís Bernardo said that the alleged illegal immigrants entered the country through the Luvo land border, which is 60 km north of the city of Mbanza-Kongo, capital of Zaire Province.
He said the two ladies had paid unspecified monetary amounts to the guide, in order to take them to the country's capital city, Luanda.
The two citizens of the neighboring country were taken to the local office of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), while the Angolan citizen is in the custody of the criminal offenses investigation department (DIIP).
