Luanda – Members of National Assembly Wednesday discussed the issue related to the fleet of protocol and support vehicles provided and assisted by the State and security guards.
The discussion on the issue is part of the Draft Law on the Statute of the Former Presidents of Republic.
In their debate, held in the specialty, some Mps back the need to set limits on the fleet of protocol and support vehicles whereas the others allege that such premise should not be quantified in the law.
During the discussion, the main opposition UNITA party and the ruling MPLA party disagreed with each other on the issue.
Unlike Alcino Kuvalela of UNITA, the MP Paulo de Carvalho of MPLA said that limits should not be quantified on the issue related to the protocol and support vehicles, for security grounds.
According to him, the fact that a former President or Vice-President to leave office does not mean that the safety standards have been guaranteed.
Addressing the matter, the Minister of State and Chief Civil Affairs Office to the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, clarified that the issue of the number of vehicles is also underlying the security of the figure of the former President of the Republic.
He explained that the number of vehicles will have to take into account the security forces that brings together the caravan of protocol vehicles of the former President of the Republic, noting that these are, as a rule, specialised issues. DC/AL/ADR/CF/NIC
