Luanda – National Assembly MPs on Monday deemed positive the IV Legislature, having stressed the approval of the Laws and harmony between the members.
Virgílio Fontes Pereira, MP of the ruling MPLA party, said the amendments to the Constitution allowed to clarify the relations between the Executive and the Parliament.
He said they enbaled to unblock the constitutional impasse concerning the principle of gradualism for the institutionalisation of local authorities.
The MP added the amendment also restricted some of the powers of the President of the Republic (the competencies that were autonomous which are now shared), as well as the limitations that the President has today during the election period.
Virgílio Fontes Pereira also highlighted the beginning of the live broadcasting of the parliamentary sessions and the approval of different legal tools to fight against corruption.
The politician said that it was precisely during the Covid-19 pandemic period that a relevant level of legislative productivity was registered.
Mihaela Weba, a MP with largest opposition UNITA, said the IV Legislature was marked by legislative production, praising the fact that, for the first time in the Parliament, a legislative legal tool from UNITA's Parliamentary group was approved, alluding to the Law on the Right of Petition.
He pointed to the change of structuring laws, such as the Amendment of the Constitution, the Law on General Elections, the EX-officio registration process, among others", as result of hard work.
In turn, Alexandre Sebastião André of CASA-CE, said that over the last few years, the Parliament has become a stronghold of democracy, commending the work performed by the MPs in this Legislature.
Lucas Ngonda of FNLA, said the last legislature term was more challenging in terms of legislative production.
The 220 MPs from MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, and the CASA-CE Coalition, represented their respective political parties in IV Legislature.
