Luanda - The Draft National Security Law was approved on Wednesday by the National Assembly, with the introduction of some amendments.
The bill now will go to the final vote, next week, after contributions from parliamentarians to improve the document, in form and content.
In his speech, the member of the technical group, Lieutenant General Carlos Amaral, expressed agreement with the suggestions presented for the amendment of some chapters and articles, noting that the contributions advanced do not harm the text.
The proposal establishes the organization and operation of the national security system, under the terms of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola.
It is applicable in all areas over which the Angolan State exercises its sovereignty and jurisdiction, as well as in the sectors, institutions, bodies and services that make up the national security system, as well as to citizens in general.
National security aims to guarantee, on a permanent basis, national independence and sovereignty, defence, territorial integrity, the democratic rule of law, the security of the populations, their property, the protection of national heritage, the maintenance of peace, order in conditions that correspond to the objectives and the national interest.
Biosecurity, environmental protection, promotion of sustainable economic and social development, peace, security and international stability are also included in the objectives of this Law.
The bill has six chapters, an equal number of sections and 46 articles. LDN/ART/DOJ
