Luanda - The Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Angola announced Thursday the start of the registration period for the 2025 Diversity Immigrant Visa Programme (DV-2025) with applications running until November 7, 2023.
According to a note from the US diplomatic representation, the diversity Visa provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants” from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States.
Angolan and São Tomé and Príncipe citizens with high school degrees or have a profession that requires specialized training can apply for the visa, since the two countries are eligible.
It clarifies that the Diversity Immigrant Visa Programme makes available, each year, up to 55,000 diversity visas (DVs) selected at random through a computer programme among all applications of people who meet the strict eligibility requirements.
The programme aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States by selecting candidates from countries with low rates of immigration to this Nation.
It adds that here is no fee to pay to apply for the diversity visa, and the US Department only accepts applications online through the website dvprogram.state.gov.
The US Department of State strongly advises applicants to complete applications themselves, as false, even wrong information may result in disqualification.
In this context, on May 4, 2024, applicants for diversity visa will be able to use the unique confirmation number to check if they have been selected.
To prevent fraud, applicants should know that the Department of State will never make visa interview selections or notifications by emails or telephone.
According to the note, to participate in the diversity visa lottery, they must visit the website dvprogram.state.gov. Applicants who have questions about the diversity visa lottery should visit these websites: ao.usembassy.gov or travel.state.gov.
As regards to the opening of the registration for the Diversity Visa, the United States Ambassador to Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, Tulinabo Mushingi, said “this is a great opportunity. The United States is proudly a country of immigrants. Immigrants keep our nation strong and our economy growing.” SC/CF/AMP
