Uíge - The commander of the National Police in Uíge province, Commissioner Ernesto Haiyamunye, on Saturday called the staff of the Reaction and Patrolling Unit (URP) to be guided by the spirit of sacrifice, dedication and patriotism in the fight against crime.
The URP in Uíge recorded, in 2023, the arrest of 290 citizens involved in the crimes of theft, robberies on public roads and in residences, the dismantling of 20 criminal association groups, as well as the seizure of 15 firearms.
The commissioner, who was speaking at the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the Reaction and Patrol Unit (URP) in Uíge, which is celebrated today, asked the staff for greater responsibility in their missions, rigor and respect for the Law.
He explained that the URP forces' mission is to help the municipal commands of the National Police to maintain security and public order, especially in critical points in the region.
The Reaction and Patrolling Unit is the 2nd level force of police intervention trained and specialized in containing riots, violent demonstrations and is responsible for providing greater dynamics in maintaining security and public order, especially in critical points in the region.
The event was marked by the imposition of the rank of the 2nd commander of that unit, Alberto Soni Tomás, to the position of superintendent, the delivery of certificates of merit to the highlighted personnel, among other cultural moments.
The event was attended by members of the advisory council of the MININT delegation and the PN Provincial Command in Uíge, senior officers, junior officers, deputy chief, agents and other guests. EPP/JAR/DOJ
