Abidjan - The President of Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, highlighted on Thursday, in Abidjan, the common desire to consolidate the exceptional relations of friendship and cooperation between his country and Angola.
In statements to the press, after witnessing the signing of 14 legal documents between the two countries, he assured the Ivorian government's desire to invest in diversification and compliance with the signed agreements.
Angola and Côte d'Ivoire signed on Thursday, in Abidjan, 14 new cooperation agreements with a view to strengthening cooperation, with emphasis on the sectors of agriculture, health, oil and gas, transport, justice, culture, tourism, scientific research and commerce.
Accompanied by his counterpart, João Lourenço, the statesman highlighted that the two countries held the 1st Session of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission Angola and Côte d'Ivoire, 23 years after its creation.
For Alassane Ouattara, the strong Angolan delegation, with members of the government and businesspeople, testifies to Angola's interest in consolidating cooperation and friendship with the Ivorian people.
On the other hand, he praised the private meeting with João Lourenço, considering it very fruitful and allowing to strengthen the relations started a few years ago.
He congratulated the diplomats of both countries for the work carried out through the constancy of bilateral relations and discussions.
He praised the efforts of the Angolan Head of State in the pacification of Central and Southern Africa and his personal participation in finding solutions to problems in these areas, particularly in his capacity as acting president of SADC.
'It is not an easy task, but we are monitoring the progress made and achieved. I congratulate you on your leadership and contribution that has allowed you to advance your country's path of progress,' he said.
Regarding current affairs on the African continent, he highlighted the need for States to cooperate in matters of security and defense to guarantee peace and stability to efficiently fight against terrorism, maritime piracy and all forms of trafficking.
The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has been carrying out, since Thursday, an official 48-hour visit to Côte d'Ivoire, at the invitation of his counterpart Alassane Ouattara. ART/VIC/DOJ
