 Luanda - The National Security Council met on Thursday, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to analyze issues related to the defense and security of the country.

The National Security Council is the body that advises the President of the Republic on matters related to the implementation of national security policy and strategy, as well as the organization, functioning and discipline of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), the National Police and other bodies responsible for maintaining order.

It is composed of 23 members, namely the Vice President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly, the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Military Court, the Attorney General and the Minister of State and Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic.

The National Security Council also includes the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, the Commander-in-Chief of the National Police, the Chief of the State Intelligence and Security Service, the Chief of the Military Intelligence and Security Service, the Director General of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Inspector General of the State Administration, and the Director General of the Criminal Investigation Service.

The meetings of the National Security Council are also attended by invited members of the executive. VIC/DAN/AMP
