Luanda - The Council of the Republic Wednesday in Luanda recommended the creation of the National Observatory, which will have the mission of monitoring the evolution of food security in Angola and speed up the achievement of the goals set out in the National Development Plan (PND).
This was stated in the final communiqué of the 2nd ordinary meeting of the Council of the Republic, which analyzed food security issues and national production, as well as the program of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the country's independence.
The communiqué states that the members of the body recommended the creation of solidarity actions to stimulate volunteering for social actions aimed at creating and maintaining a permanent food stock to support the most vulnerable citizens, allowing the base of beneficiaries to be widened to 500,000 people.
As regards the National School Feeding Plan, it recommended setting up a school feeding program, particularly at schools in rural areas.
It also recommended the intensification of agricultural training programs in the media, especially on television.
The communiqué emphasizes that the members of this body defend the need to make access to micro-credits more agile, enabling farming families, in particular, to be empowered and increase production.
It also advocates the creation of agricultural parks with equipment available for use by producers on a rental basis, thus preventing each farm from wanting to own its own tractor.
The set up of a working group to begin study on the need for a Land Law revision is also one of the recommendations of the meeting led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.AFL/ART/DAN/AMP
