Dundo - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENDIAMA E.P., Ganga Júnior, announced Thursday the setup of a new agency to combat illegal mining activities, called 'National Observatory', in Dundo, Lunda-Norte province,
Speaking at the closing of the workshop on the biannual assessment of diamond production, he announced that the agency has already been established and will work with ENDIAMA's security corps to map the areas with the greatest focus of illegal mining.
He said that the creation of the agency aims to give a new dynamic, making the fight against illegal mining hotspots efficient, especially in the concession areas.
On the other hand, he stated that 'the diamond subsector is going through a very bad moment in terms of market issues, requiring companies to be resilient and efficient in spending.
He said that in the last two years there has been a price variation of around 35 to 57 percent below the forecast, a fact that has negatively affected companies.
For this reason, he said that his institution is working with suppliers, customers and banks, in order to ensure the cash flow available, for this troubled period, 'even if we do not sell all production'.
He stressed that from the point of view of legalization, in order to increasingly meet demand and meet production targets, ENDIAMA will require the improvement of the organization of internal work and greater investment in geological mining prospecting, for the discovery of strategic reserves.
ENDIAMA currently controls 24 projects in production and 54 in prospection. HD/DOJ
