Huambo - The commander-general of the National Police, Commissioner-General Paulo de Almeida, said last Friday, in the central Huambo Province, that there is readiness within the police forces to ensure public security in the festive season.
Speaking to the press in the end of a meeting with the local governor, Lotti Nolika, the official said that the work will require strict compliance with biosafety measures against covid-19.
On his turn, the Police chief requested the completion of the works of the provincial command of Huambo, paralyzed since 2013, carried out by 80 percent, and of the helicopter hangar at Albano Machado Airport.
According to the governor, the completion of these infrastructures can improve the provision of services to citizens in the various areas of police action, mainly in combating organized crime.
During two working days in Huambo, Paulo de Almeida opened the police station in Cacoma, visited the investigation and criminal offenses department, the 1st, 4th, 9th police stations in the municipality of Calenga, and the local command instruction centre.
On the first day of the visit, the commander also met with representatives of the judiciary and the Public Ministry.
The Police chief spoke to journalists, in the end of the meeting held with the governor of Huambo Province, Lotti Nolika.
Paulo de Almeida reiterated the appeal to citizens, in order to observe the preventive measures that can be taken in relation to Covid-19, such as reinforcing hygiene, staying at home, observing social distancing and frequent hand washing.
