Ondjiva – The National Police of Angola have bolstered the means of security and agents along the border with Namibia, the provincial commander of the National Police in Cunene, António Ribeiro, said Saturday.
The Police commander praised the availability of forces and means capable of guaranteeing border security with the Republic of Namibia.
The commissioner said that in recent times, the mechanisms for border control have been improved with the installation of long-range cameras, which make it possible to observe the movements along the border,
"Our border is quite extensive, but thanks to the efforts of the Border Guard Police, we have essentially maintained its inviolability, safeguarding national sovereignty," the commissioner said.
António Ribeiro called for greater commitment and patriotism from the forces in the fulfillment of their mission and warned that cases of enticement or bribery may result in disciplinary proceedings, which may result in some being expelled from the Police forces.
Cunene shares 460 kilometres of border with the Republic of Namibia,340 by land and 120 by river.FI/LHE/OHA/MRA/AMP
