Mbanza-Kongo – A 25-year-old national citizen was arrested, on Wednesday, by the PN (National Police), in the municipality of Nzeto, Zaire province, for attempting to introduce, into Luanda, two illegal immigrants from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The accused was stopped at a police barrier set up on National Road nº 100 when, on a motorbike, he was transporting two DRC citizens in an irregular migration situation.
According to the spokesperson for the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, in statements to ANGOP, the accused charged monetary amounts (unspecified) to the two foreigners, in order to transport them from Nzeto to the country's capital (Luanda).
He added that the detainee is guilty of the crime of promoting and assisting illegal immigration, punishable in the Penal Code, the process of which follows its legal procedures with the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Regarding foreign citizens, aged between 21 and 22, the source said that they were sent to the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) for their repatriation. DMN/JL/CF/DOJ
