Luanda – President João Lourenço this Tuesday checked the execution level of public works relating to the increase of capacity and functioning of water supply systems and projects undergoing in the capital of the country.
When visiting the Quilonga Grande Project, located in the Bom Jesus district, Icolo e Bengo Municipality, the Head of State received technical explanations about the water supply systems and projects from the directors of the Luanda Water Public Company (EPAL).
The ongoing water projects in Luanda are to benefit about ten million people by 2027.
Accompanied by State ministers and other government officials, João Lourenço toured the Quilonga Grande Water Pumping Station.
The Quilonga Grande Water Project is tipped to be Luanda’s biggest project in this field, with a 500k cubic metres capacity to prepare water for distribution, an undertaking that is under the responsibility of the Chinese consortium Sinohydro-Jonce.
Luanda Province’s population is estimated at 9.9 million people. AFL/VIC/jmc
