Icolo e Bengo - President João Lourenço inaugurated, on Thursday, Feb 27, in the province of Icolo & Bengo, the Casa do Kwanza (kwanza House, in English), a facility dedicated to the treasury management of the Angola Central Bank (BNA), which will function as a logistics center for the storage, processing and destruction of money in poor condition.
After presenting the project built in the Special Economic Zone, in an institutional video, the Head of State unveiled the plaque and proceeded to cut the ribbon.
Right after that, the Holder of the Executive Branch, accompanied by the BNA's head and Govt members, went on a guided tour, the service areas of the modern infrastructure that will facilitate the cash needs throughout the country.
With the emergence of the institution, the management of circulating cash will become more modern, efficient and safe, and Commercial Banks, in cash withdrawals and deposits, will be served with greater speed and security, the consequence of which will be a better service provision to the population.
The Casa do Kwanza's inauguration is also part of the celebration of 50 years of National Independence, which marks the Nov 11 of this year.
Casa do Kwanza features
This is a BNA's modern facility, designed to meet the growing demand for cash, due to demographic growth registered in recent years.
With Casa do Kwanza, the BNA has modern equipment that will ease the cash needs throughout the country.
It has five strong rooms such as Pallets, Boxes, Precious Metals, Gold and Transition, all fully automated and equipped with shelves and robots for packaging, moving and storing money.
The equipment also includes Automatic Banknote Processing Rooms, Manual Banknotes and Metal Coin Processing Room.
The Automatic Banknote Processing room, for example, has the capacity to process around 33 banknotes per second each machine, for a total of more than 4 million banknotes daily. It also has sensors to detect counterfeit notes.
The project also has the areas of Destruction of Poor Banknotes, Service to Commercial Banks, and Reception of Cash from the Manufacturer.
