Luanda – President João Lourenço on Wednesday praised the ‘good work’ carried out in the municipalities by the former women administrators of Andulo (Bié), Belize (Cabinda), and Luau (Moxico), which led to their appointment  as governors.

The president made the statement at the swearing-in ceremony of five new provincial governors, including four women, namely Celeste Elavoco David Adolfo from Bié, Suzana Fernanda Pemba Massiala de Abreu from Cabinda, Filomena Elizabete Chitula Miza Aires from Lunda Norte, Mara Regina da Silva Baptista Domingos Quiosa from Kwanza Sul and Pereira Alfredo from Huambo.

President João Lourenço swore in the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Maria do Rosário Bragança, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Paula Regina Simões de Oliveira, and the Secretary of State for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Álvaro da Cunha Cândido dos Santos, the deputy governor of Cuanza Norte for Political, Social and Economic Sector, Constantina Pereira Furtado Machado and the deputy governor of Cuanza Norte for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Michel Raimundo Luzolo.

In his speech, the president said the governors, now sworn in for their good work carried out in the municipalities they worked, deserve the government’s trust.

João Lourenço added that a governor moving to another province sometimes raises questions about how well he will perform his duties in the region he is assigned to.

‘I say that they leave to fulfill the role of firefighter. So if they did a good job where they were, what we expect is that they will do the same or better in the provinces where they have now been appointed,’ Lourenço said.

The governor of Bié, Celeste Elavoco David Adolfo, who was previously the administrator of Andulo, replaces Pereira Alfredo, who was appointed to carry out the same duties in Huambo province, replacing Lotti Nolika.

The former municipal administrator of Belize, Suzana Fernanda Pemba Massia de Abreu, appointed governor of Cabinda province, replaces Mara Quiosa, appointed to Cuanza Sul province, replacing Job Capapinha.

Filomena Elizabete Chitula Miza Aires, appointed governor of Lunda Norte, was previously municipal administrator of Luau, Moxico province. She replaces Odia Paulo Satula Vilarinho.

The former Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Bragança replaced Dalva Maurícia Calombo Ringote Allen as Minister of State for Social Affairs. AFL/DAN/AMP
