Huambo - The governor of the province of Huambo, Pereira Alfredo, on Thursday called for a greater engagement of the staff of the Central Military Region (RMC) during the General Census of Population and Housing (Census2024).
The government official, who was speaking at a parade of honor, on the occasion of his first working visit to the headquarters of the Central Military Region, in the Santo António neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, said the readiness and support of the Angolan Armed Forces was important (FAA) for the success of the census process.
Pereira Alfredo said that government authorities hope to count on the FAA to carry out the Census, scheduled September 19th, above all, in the task of guaranteeing public order and tranquility and in supporting this noble mission.
“We will count on you, with this determination, commitment and insight, as the Angolan Armed Forces constitutes the bulwark in fulfilling the instructions of the President of the Republic and FAA Commander-in-Chief, João Lourenço”, he stressed.
The governor recognized the social role of the military community, mainly during the fight against Covid-19, in the vaccination campaigns and other actions carried out by the Government of the province of Huambo.
He characterized that the FAA constitutes an example of national unity and cohesion, as citizens of all social classes and from all national space converge within it, hence the reason for maintaining the territorial integrity of the Angolan homeland.
Therefore, the governor drew the attention of the Central Military Region command to the need to preserve and control mineral resources and other strategic objectives in the province of Huambo and the country, in general, to prevent “power from being in the streets”.
RMC Commander
In turn, the commander of the Central Military Region, lieutenant general Simão Carlitos Wala, said that the visit served to establish direct contact with the troops, within the scope of inter-institutional relations to, jointly, materialize defense and security in this portion of the national territory.
He expressed the commitment of the Central Military Region Command in enforcing the purposes enshrined in law and, as always, cooperating with the local Government, in institutional support focused on the reconstruction of social infrastructures and participation in vaccination campaigns, eradication of illiteracy and others of a community nature whenever requested.
He also promised continue to cooperate with the National Police and other bodies that make up the Defense and Security System, in maintaining strategic objectives and combating organized crimes, to guarantee the normal movement of people and goods, as well as the implementation of structured projects, aimed at the well-being of the population.
The Central Military Region comprises the provinces of Huambo, Benguela, Bié and Cuanza-Sul.
