Luanda - Former secretary general of the Presidency’s Security Affairs Office Lt Gen Luís Simão Ernesto confirmed the embezzlement of more than 50 million kwanzas in the salary sheets of some military units.

He said the embezzlement occurred in the 3rd and 6th battalions of the Transport Brigade, the Demining Brigade and the Music Band of the Presidency of the Republic, between 2008 and 2016
He explained that Major Pedro Lussary was not at the time the financial officer of the Music Band of the Presidency of the Republic, but was only responsible for preparing the salary sheets for those units.
The general officer said that each military unit was responsible for processing payroll, with the exception of the Music Band, the Demining Brigade and the Road Transport Battalion.
With the last two ones located in the south-east province of Cuando Cubango, in charge of the Military Affairs Office to the Presidency.
At the Public Prosecutor's Office, the secretary-general of the Security Affairs Office to the President of the Republic between 1995 and 2017, denied the participation of Major Lussaty in withdrawing the money for the payment of the staff of the two units.
Lussaty, he added, never participated in the accounting of the money that transported from the coffers of the Security Affairs Office for payment to the staff of the units in his responsibility.
He explained that all activity related to financial management was in charge of the Secretary General of the Security Affairs Office to the President of Republic.
On the other hand, he said he was not aware of the alleged acts of delivery of bags of money to Generals Eusébio de Brito, Dilangue and Major Pedro Lussaty.
He is of the view that Major Pedro Lussaty had no chance of interfering in the financial management of the Security Affairs Office to the President of the Republic, as he was not registered at the Ministry of Finance.
