Cabinda - A total of 209 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Republic of Congo have been repatriated in the last seven days from the northern Cabinda province by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) for illegal stay in Angola.
According to a SME’s press release that reached ANGOP Thursday, the citizens in an irregular migratory condition were repatriated from the Yema (DRC) and Massabi (Republic of Congo) border posts.
From the total of men and women repatriated, 200 came from the DRC and nine from the Republic of Congo
The statement indicates that the operational actions to combat illegal immigration in Cabinda have focused more intensely on the neighborhoods where the main markets are located, with informal street trading being the main source of income for immigrants, especially those in illegal conditions.
The SME says investigation and inspection activities will continue to reduce the growing trend of illegal immigrants in Cabinda. JFC/SC/AMP
