Cabinda - The deputy ombudsman, Aguinaldo Cristóvão, on Friday in Cabinda Province, encouraged greater commitment on the part of public administration institutions to ensure quality services for citizens.
At the end of a three-day working visit to Cabinda, where, among various activities, he visited the Integrated Citizen Service (SIAC), the General Hospital and the Maritime Passenger Terminal, Aguinaldo Cristóvão expressed his happiness with the level of organization and public service in these institutions.
He advised public administration institutions to continue to conduct themselves in a responsible, ethical and patriotic manner, above all in order to meet the needs of the population.
Speaking to the press, he acknowledged that nowadays citizens are more aware of their rights and duties and whenever they feel aggrieved by one or other administrative issue, they request the services of the Ombudsman's Office to be informed of how to act in these situations.
“The ombudsman's office needs to know how things work in order to have an idea of how they provide a public service to citizens”, he said.
The official said he was satisfied with the prudent and intelligent way in which issues that have to do with the citizen have been dealt with calmly and, above all, with the necessary institutional articulation to overcome the problems.
He reiterated that the role of the ombuds office is to defend the rights and freedoms of citizens, mediating conflicts and seeking solutions through various public bodies in order to overcome problems.
In his opinion, the role of this figure in the country is already being well understood due to the extensive publicity work on social platforms, radio, television and other press organizations.
Aguinaldo Cristóvão pointed to the 7,000 complaints received last year, two more than the previous year, as a clear sign that this figure is being recognized by the public.
During his visit, the deputy ombudsman held meetings with the deputy governor for the Economic Sector, Macário Lembe, representing the provincial governor, Mara Quiosa, the bishop of the Catholic Church, the presiding judge of the Cabinda District Court, the deputy chief public prosecutor in Cabinda, heads of the Human Rights Committee and other institutions. / ING/JFC/VIC/MRA/DOJ
