Cabinda – The Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, manifested satisfaction this Thursday, in the northern Cabinda Province, at the current level of physical and financial execution of the works at the Caio Port Maritime Terminal.
In the last stage of her two-day visit to Cabinda, Carolina Cerqueira, who traveled to the town of Caio to see the current state of the works at the Maritime Port Terminal, was satisfied with the information obtained from those responsible for the Caio Port company regarding the levels of execution physical aspect of the work which has already reached 35.4% and 50% in the financial aspect.
She was also informed about the importance of economic infrastructure, its impact on the community of Cabinda and the country as a whole, as it is in a strategic area of the navigation corridor for large ships between Angola and Congo.
She took advantage of the moment to encourage young engineers and technicians for more commitment, dedication and sense of responsibility, remembering that the infrastructure will bring many benefits to all citizens of the region, with emphasis on youth, in terms of employment and the improvement of conditions of their lives.
For UNITA deputy, Navita Ngola, the geographical situation of the province requires that there be a port terminal of this size, which can galvanize and boost trade between Angola and neighbouring countries, looking at the project that is expected to become an economic platform, a free zone, to attract foreign investment, in order to respond to the planned development model.
He highlighted the need for speed and more commitment in its physical and financial execution so that the work can be completed in 2024.
For his part, MPLA deputy Mambi dos Santos highlighted the vision of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in the conclusion of this important strategic infrastructure for the province of Cabinda, taking into account the geographical situation of the region and which will also serve lever for the country's economy.
The administrator of the company Caio Porto, Jorge Lando Jack, said that the current levels of physical execution have already reached 35.4% of construction, with the construction of the ship berth, the constriction of the beams and pillars that It will culminate with the connection of the ships' docking platform.
For administrator Jorge Jack, the schedule foresees the completion of the work on the 350-meter platform in April 2024, while the total completion of the first phase will be in December 2025, taking into account the financial execution of 50%.
He highlighted that this allows, during this period, ships with the capacity to transport more than five thousand containers to begin their operations in this infrastructure.
