Luanda - The Constitutional Court (TC) on Friday rejected an injunction filed by MPLA activist António Francisco Venâncio against the convening of the VIII Extraordinary Congress of the MPLA.
In the injunction, António Venâncio argued, among other things, that the convocation of the 7th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee (CC) of the MPLA on November 25 was flawed and that the deliberations led to a violation of the rights and duties of militants.
However, after reviewing the injunction, the plenary judges of the TC considered that António Venâncio had failed to prove the damage that could result from the decision of the MPLA Central Committee to hold the Extraordinary Congress.
The VIII Extraordinary Congress will be held in the capital on December 16 and 17 to discuss, among other things, the draft thesis "The MPLA, from Independence to the Present, the Challenges of the Future".
The aim is to take stock of 50 years of national independence and to outline strategies for meeting current and future challenges.
The Congress will also analyze possible adjustments to the MPLA Statute. SC/TED/AMP
