Luanda - Agostinho Neto Foundation delivered Sunday the bust of the late President Agostinho Neto to Freedom Park in Pretoria, South Africa, Angop has learnt.
The handover took place during a ceremony to mark the centenary of the birth anniversary of the founder of the Angolan nation.
The press note adds that the move is part of Angola's response to South Africa, which recognises President Neto's effort in liberation of Southern Africa and South Africa in particular.
During the ceremony, Angola was represented by minister of State and Head of Civil Affairs Office to the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, who at the time highlighted the fight for freedom unleashed by Agostinho Neto.
He also highlighted Neto's contribution to the liberation of the African continent and in favour of all the oppressed peoples of the world in the fight against colonial domination, imperialism and racial segregation.
Minister Adão de Almeida also stressed the role of Nelson Mandela as one of the most courageous children of Africa and fearless fighters for the dignity, respect and affirmation of the African continent.
The South African government was represented by the minister of Sports, Art and Culture Nkosinathi Mthethwa, in a ceremony also attended by other Angolan personalities such as the country's ambassador to South Africa, Filomena Delgado, the Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, and the Consul General in Johannesburg, Irene dos Santos.
Also present were the director general of the Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad, Maria Filomena do Rosário Neto, and the director of the Office of the President of the Agostinho Neto Foundation, Cheron Campos.
