Luanda - The MPLA Politburo approved on Saturday, in Luanda, the documents that will be submitted to the party's 8th Extraordinary Congress, scheduled for the upcoming December.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, chaired by the party’s leader, João Lourenço, the secretary of the MPLA Politburo for former combatants and veterans of the homeland, Pedro Neto, revealed that the extraordinary congress will carry out an assessment of the party's statutes and approve its Communication and Marketing plan.
According to the party leader, the extraordinary congress, in December, will assess the political party's life since independence and also future challenges.
During the IV ordinary session of the MPLA Politburo, internal documents relating to the presidency of the extraordinary congress and other bodies that will lead the meeting were also approved.
"The preparation of the party's 8th extraordinary congress constituted a strong point of this agenda and, for this reason, we tried to evaluate and approve some documents that will be dealt with specifically at that congress", explained Pedro Neto.
The meeting, which took place at the Futungo II Complex, in Luanda, assessed the information from the Politburo Secretariat on the activities carried out during the second quarter of 2024, as well as the information from the Discipline, Ethics and Audit Committee, developed during that period.
Participants also addressed issues linked to the internal life of the party and analyzed the Annual Plan of Activities and Events for the year 2025, as well as the respective budget and staff management.
They also appreciated the work agenda to be submitted to the next meeting of the Central Committee, scheduled for Nov 25th.
The Political Bureau is the permanent body of the MPLA Management, which assesses in the interval between meetings of the Central Committee and takes care of specific adjustments to the MPLA's strategies, having as its first task organizing the internal life of the organisation.
It is also the responsibility of the MPLA Polititburo to decide on the appointment of party members to hold positions or functions of political responsibility at national level.
The MPLA Central Committee (CC) is made up of 693 members, of which 101 are from its Political Bureau.
