Baku – Angolan Vice President of the Republic Esperança da Costa is already in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan, where she will attend the 29th High-Level Conference on Climate Change (COP29).
Esperança da Costa represents the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, at this event that begins on the 12th of this month, with the presence of dozens of world leaders.
The conference, which aims to discuss climate change and global practices to contain its advances and damages, will be attended by Heads of State and world leaders committed to combating climate change.
It will take place under the motto 'Increase Ambition, Enable Action'.
Azerbaijan is the first country in the Caucasus region, located between Eastern Europe and West Asia, to host a conference of its kind, to allow a broad approach to climate.
COP29 aims to debate climate change, find solutions to the environmental problems that affect the planet and negotiate agreements, and in recent decades, countries have been dedicated to finding solutions to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Its priority is the negotiation around the new collective climate finance targets, so this edition should also serve for a broad discussion to accelerate the energy transition.
The United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) annually brings together heads of state and representatives of countries from around the world at the Conference of the Parties (COP) to discuss climate change and global practices to contain its advances and damage.
The COP is a global platform of countries committed to environmental sustainability, exploration and rational management of resources, as instruments to curb the harmful effects of global warming. FMA/ART/DOJ
