Dundo - Defense and security forces in the eastern province of Lunda Norte seized a total of 200 diamond stones for illegal possession and trafficking during a micro-operation conducted in the region, local National Police (PN) spokesman Alendre Pereira said Friday.
According to the PN spokesman, the stones were seized in the municipalities of Cambulo, Chitato, Xá-muteba and Lucapa.
The spokesman, who did not disclose the number of citizens involved in the crime, added that at least 443,000 kwanzas and 600 US dollars were confiscated during the operation, as well as various tools used for illegal mining.
Alendre Pereira said that the Border Guard Police detained 599 foreign citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo for illegal presence in the national territory and that after administrative and migration procedures, they were repatriated to their country of origin through the border posts of Caungula, Cuango, Chitato, Lóvua and Cambulo.JVL/HD/TED/AMP
