Nairobi – Angola’s President João Lourenço arrived in Nairobi on Thursday afternoon for a two-day official visit to Kenya at the invitation of his counterpart, Willian Ruto.
At Jomo Kenyatta Airport, the Angolan statesman, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, received welcome greetings from the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi. The work schedule starts on Friday.
On the first day, in the town of Kericho, 400 kilometers from the city of Nairobi, João Lourenço will participate, as honored guest in an event commemorating Hero's Day, where the Angolan President is expected to deliver a speech.
On Saturday, João Lourenço will be formally welcomed at the Presidential Palace in Nairobi, with protocol honors and 21 cannon salutes, followed by a meeting between the two Heads of State, while other members of the delegation will be working on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Also on Saturday, João Lourenço will go to the Mausoleum of Jomo Kenyatta, the first President of Kenya, to pay tribute to the late statesman. ART/VM/TED/DOJ
