Luanda – Angola’s head of State João Lourenço inaugurated Friday in Luanda the Satellite Mission and Control Centre, located in the Funda locality, province of Luanda.
The inauguration of the centre is part of the National Space Strategy and occurs three months after the successful launch in orbit of the Angolan Angosat-2 Satellite, made in Russia.
The infrastructure was built on a total area of 6.617 square metres and has 47 compartments equipped with technical and technological means.
The Satellite Mission and Control Centre is an smart infrastructure with multiple engineering advantages, capable of ensuring satellite tracking, monitoring and exploration.
The Angosat-2 Satellite was launched on 12 October 2022, at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, and is in orbit at position 23E.
With high data transmission rates, Angosat-2 was designed and built with the direct participation and dedication of Russian and Angolan specialists.
The Satellite has the capacity to cover, via C-band, the entire African continent and a significant part of Southern Europe.
