Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço travels Thursday to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the 36th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).
This was announced by the spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Luís Fernando, who said that the summit will take place on February 18 and 19, under the theme "Accelerating the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area”.
The spokesperson added that in the days that precede the summit, the Angolan Head of State has scheduled audiences with different personalities in the Ethiopian capital.
The meetings, he said, aim to address issues linked to the quest for peace in Africa, which remains ravaged by several conflicts, as well as matters on politics and international diplomacy.
The 36th Summit of AU Heads of State and Government has as one of the main points on the agenda the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) Agreement.
The agenda of the Summit includes discussing security aspects on the continent and the implementation of Agenda 2063.
