Luanda - Angolan Head of State João Lourenço left Thursday Luanda bound for London, United Kingdom, to attend the crowning ceremony of King Charles III.
President João Lourenço, who is accompanied by the First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, received farewell greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic Esperança da Costa and Government officials.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 6, at Westminster Abbey, in London.
With the coronation, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth community will formally have a new monarch, in a ceremony that will be attended by several national and foreign entities.
The coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla, as King and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth kingdoms, will be the symbolic high point of their ascension.
This is the first coronation of a British monarch to take place in the 21st century and the 40th to be held at Westminster Abbey since 1066.
On the throne, King Charles III succeeds Queen Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96, after reigning for 70 years.
