Luanda - The President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, Tuesday in Luanda challenged Angolan and Cape Verdean youth to increasingly strengthen their friendly relations.
Speaking at a master class aimed at university students, held at the National Historical Archive of Angola, José Maria Neves considered it essential to continue laying stones in order to build new relationship bridges between the two countries.
The Cape Verdean statesman stated that the historical relations between Angola and his country are strong, considering the two peoples “almost cousins, taking into account the ties of consanguinity, language, music, the struggle for freedom and development that link the two states”.
President José Maria Nevez also said that Angola is a territory with enormous potential for the development of tourism, which generates employment and contributes to the diversification of the economy.
On his turn, the Angolan minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Filipe Zau, described José Maria Neves as a leading figure in Cape Verdean politics and in the world of academic knowledge.
“José Maria das Neves was elected President of Cape Verde in 2021, in the first round. He has already been prime minister of his country and honoris causa by Cape Verdean, American and Brazilian universities”, he stressed.
José Maria Neves has been in Luanda since Sunday, for a three-day State visit, at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
