Lubango – Lubango city, capital of the central Huíla province is to host on March 25 to 29, the meeting of employment and labour ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Social Partners.
According to a press release from the organization that reached ANGOP on Wednesday, the meeting will review various issues relating to employment and labour, as well as their importance for the region.
Along with labour ministers from the member states and their social partners, the event will include national delegations, officials from the regional organization’s secretariat, and observers from invited international organizations and Angolan officials.
Private programs and meetings are scheduled between members who have private program or intend to host any reserved meetings during the event, reads the note
The Southern African Development Community is a regional bloc that aims to create a common market in the medium term, following the basic model of the European Union and some aspects of Mercosur. It also aims to promote efforts to establish peace and security in the region.
SADC brings together 16 countries, namely South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, whose headquarters are in Gaborone (Botswana).
Angola currently holds the rotating presidency of the organization for the period 2023-2024.MS/AMP
