Ndalatando – MPLA announced Thursday its availability to respect the results of the general elections on 24 August and called invited other contending political organisations to follow the same path.
The announcement came from the party’s candidate for President of the Republic, João Lourenço on Thursday.
“The MPLA is committed to respecting the electoral results, whatever it may be (the result), under the law”, the leader of the ruling party in Angola told a mass rally in Ndalatando, northern Cuanza Norte province.
João Lourenço recalled that stability and peace must be preserved at all times and not just during the electoral period.
In his well-received speech, João Lourenço said that this was the MPLA's commitment and he expected the same attitude from the other candidates in the elections.
The politician made it clear that there is no other mechanism to force political parties to fight for peace, other than those established by law.
More electricity in the next five years
The outgoing President of the Republic predicted the “peak production” of electricity in the country, after the completion of Caculo Cabaça dam, in the province of Cuanza Norte.
The Hydroelectric Project, with the capacity to produce 2,100 MW, in addition to serving the municipalities of Cuanza Norte, will bring electricity to all 18 provinces of the country.
Waters
In the water sector, the MPLA leader spoke, in particular, of the supply system to Dondo city, the completion of the first phase of the referred project, which already supplies drinking water to the lower part of Dondo.
At the Cuanza Norte level, water abstraction projects are underway in the cities of Ndalatando and Lucala, from the Lucala River.
Ring roads
In his nearly one-hour address, in which he presented the party’s candidate for Vice-President of the Republic, João Lourenço announced the construction, over the next five years, of ring roads in some cities in the country, to divert the high traffic of trucks over them.
These are the cities of Ndalatando (Cuanza Norte), Sumbe (Cuanza Sul), Malanje (province of the same name) and Benguela (province of the same name).
Ndalatando satellite city
The MPLA president announced the construction of a satellite city for Ndalatando with two thousand houses, in the 2022/2027 term, if he wins this year's general elections.
Other plans cover the construction of the Polytechnic Institute of Ndalatando and the construction of a multipurpose pavilion in the same city.
Health
In his speech, João Lourenço said that in the 2017/2022 term, the Angolan Executive admitted, in the province of Cuanza Norte, 9,95 health professionals.
He informed that by December another 462 technicians in the sector should be hired.
He also announced the execution of the General Hospital of Ndalatando and the municipality of Dondo underway, with the former having a capacity of 200 beds.
Angolans will vote on the 24th of August, for the fifth time, to elect the President of the Republic, the Vice-President and the 220 MPs to the National Assembly.
