Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, on Wednesday congratulated Ms. Droupadi Murmu for her election as President of India, in the election held on 15 July this year.
In the congratulatory note, to which Angop had access, Joao Lourenço considers that the choice of Droupadi Murmu for the highest magistracy of the Republic of India is the result of a broad consensus among the political forces of this country that has consolidated its democracy.
João Lourenço said that Droupadi Murmu´s personal commitment and ingenuity will help the government of her country to fulfil the expectations of the Indian people, regarding the achievement of the objectives of development and social progress that this nation has been avhieving.
He hopes that Angola and India may continue to deepen the multifaceted relations that they have had for decades and continue to share common interests in various areas, especially the social and economic ones, to the satisfaction of both peoples.
However, India and Angola diplomatic relations date back to 1985 and since then have maintained a cooperation that is considered extremely cordial. In the cooperation chapter, trade has been going on since October 1986.
In the first semester of this year, Angola and India signed three legal instruments to reinforce bilateral exchange and the existing level of cooperation.
The signed documents include the Agreement on Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service Passports, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of Angola and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of the Indian Union, besides the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India Sushma Swara Foreign Service Institute.
