Luanda - The Vice-President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, appealed Wednesday to citizens to vote in today's general elections in the country as a way of exercising this right.
The appeal was made after Bornito de Sousa cast his vote at the 42nd polling station, at the Law Faculty premises of the Agostinho Neto University.
According to the Vice President, this suffrage has a special particularity, taking into account that it is the first time that Angolan citizens abroad are participating.
Roughly 14.3 million citizens are expected to vote in today's general elections, over half of whom are concentrated in the provinces of Luanda, Huíla, Benguela and Huambo, which are the four biggest electoral wards of the country.
The four provinces account for 8.211 million voters, (57.2 %), of which 4.671 million (37 percent) are in Luanda.
This year's elections, with the participation of Angolans in the diaspora for the first time, are the fifth in Angola´s history, since 1992. Overseas voting takes place in 12 countries and 25 cities.
