Luanda - National Electoral Commission (CNE) Tuesday in Luanda called for the massive participation of citizens in the vote on Wednesday (24), stressing the need to adopt a civic, orderly and responsible attitude that contribute to a festive mood that characterizes the elections.

In a communiqué reached ANGOP, the CNE president, Manuel Pereira da Silva, urges voters to refrain from any behaviour likely to disturb public order and tranquility.

He also asked citizens to voluntarily leave the polling stations, after the vote, which starts at 07:00 am.

He praised the "responsible behaviour" of citizens at all stages of the electoral process, ranging from the civic and electoral education campaign to the voter information system, which allowed finding their voting places.

As for the campaign conducted by the eight political parties competing for the election, which took place from 24 July to 22 August, Manuel da Silve said the exercise ran in a “climate of high civility, harmony, respect for difference and without violence”.

Each political party competing in these elections received an amount of 1.1 billion as State funding for the campaign.

In order to ensure the voting in the country and abroad, the election body installed 13,238 polling stations and 26,488 tables, which involved the recruitment and training of 106,870 members of the polling stations and tables.

It accredited 277,483 delegates from the list of competing political parties, of whom 153,853 are effective and 123,630 are substitutes, who will supervise the voting process.

The CNE also accredited 1,300 national and international observers, representing regional, global, non-governmental organisations, diplomatic missions, churches and civil society.

Personalities of recognised national and international merit and prestige were also invited to observe the process.

Standing for Wednesday's elections are MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, APN, P-NJANGO, as well as the CASA-CE coalition.

Roughly 14. 3 million  voters, of whom 22, 560 residing abroad are expected to vote.
