Luanda - The coalition Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola (CASA-CE) has pledged to create a National Rural Development Agency to promote the country's food self-sufficiency, in the next five years, should it win this August 24 elections.
Speaking in its airtime broadcast by the Angola Public Television (TPA), the coalition defended that the agency would also aim to promote valorization of national products derived from agribusiness and fishing industry, favouring stable and solid alliances between primary and industrial production.
The CASA-CE said it believes that the fight against hunger and poverty comes in the first place, through national food production with adequate protein and calorie content for the population.
With the slogan "home, work, and fair wages," CASA-CE was created on April 3, 2012. It is running for the third time in an electoral process.
The coalition is integrated by the Party of Free Alliance of Angolan Majority (PALMA), Support Party for Democracy and Development - Patriotic Alliance (PADDA-AP), Angolan Pacific Party (PPA), National Party for the Salvation of Angola (PNSA) and Democratic Party for the Progress of Angolan National Alliance (PDP-ANA).
For the August 24 elections, roughly 14.3 million citizens are registered to vote, of which 22,560 are resident abroad. The overseas vote, the first in Angola´s history, will take place in 25 cities and in 12 countries.
