Luanda - Namibian head of State Hage Geingob on Tuesday congratulated the President João Lourenço on his re-election in the general elections held on 24 August, 2022 in Angola.
In his congratulation note, Geingop described as fair the re-election, with 51.17 percent of votes, of João Lourenço for the nation’s top job.
He expects that the election can help the Angolan Government meet the people’s expectations in terms development and social progress of the nation.
Releasing the final results, National Electoral Commission (CNE) gave the ruling MPLA party the victory, with 51.17 percent, corresponding to 3.2 million votes.
The results enabled the MPLA to re-elect its candidate for the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and get 124 seats in National Assembly (Parliament).
UNITA garnered 43.95% (2.7 million votes and 90 MPs), the PRS 1.14% (71,351 votes and two parliamentarians), the FNLA 1.06% (66,337 votes and two seats) and the PHA 1.02 % (63,749 votes and also two MPs).
While, CASA-CE which restricted to 0.76% (47,446 votes), APN, 0.48% (30,139 votes) and P-NJANGO, 0.42% (26,867 votes) failed to win seats in Parliament.
