Luanda - Members of the United Nations Association of Germany (DGVN) praised on Friday, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Angola's performance in favor of the pacification of the African continent.
According to a note to which ANGOP had access, this was expressed during a meeting with Angola's deputy permanent representative to the African Union (AU), ambassador Yema Flora dos Santos Silva.
The delegation, which is carrying out a study visit to Ethiopia, focused on collecting information on the role and functioning of the structures of the continental organization, also addressed the actions of President João Lourenço, as Champion of the African Union for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa.
Ekkehard Griep, head of the DGVN, said the association defends the protection of human rights and the strengthening of international law, while it bases its activity on the conviction that global challenges can only be resolved through a close international cooperation and understanding between peoples.
The Angolan ambassador reiterated the country's support for the African Platform on Children Affected by Armed Conflicts (APCAAC) and called for the full implementation of the Policy on Child Protection in the African Union Peace Support Operations.
Speaking on Wednesday during the meeting of the AU Peace and Security Council (CPS), dedicated to inclusive education in conflict situations, the Angolan diplomat suggested the application of the Policy on the Integration of Child Protection in African Architecture of Peace and Security (APSA), having highlighted the commitment to the provisions of resolution 64/290 of the United Nations General Assembly on “The Right to Education in Emergency Situations.SC/AMP
