Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has highlighted the articulation of cooperation and development initiatives and projects capable of solidifying the pillars of re-launch and diversification of the economies of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), based on the potential of both neighbouring countries' resources.
In a message sent Saturday to his DRC counterpart, Félix Tchissekedi, on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the independence of his country, the Angolan Head of State said that the articulation should focus on common initiatives, aimed at the political stabilisation of the region and the respective countries.
In the message to which ANGOP had access, the Angolan statesman also stresses the efforts to promote concord, peace and understanding among all the living forces of the DRC, with a view to building a base in which there are principles that help to boost a broad convergence of interests in favour of progress, development and welfare of all the Congolese.
Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo share a vast land, sea and river border.
Both countries are members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), whose rotating presidency is held by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.
