Dundo – A total of 85 diamond stones of different carats were seized in the municipalities of Cambulo, Chitato and Lucapa, province of Lunda-Norte, for illegal possession and trafficking, during a micro-operation by the National Police.
The information was made official on Thursday by the communications specialist of the Provincial Command of the National Police, Valter Pereira, highlighting that during the operation 600.000 Kwanzas (US$678,84) were seized in the possession of illegal diamond traffickers.
The operation allowed the seizure of 11.275 liters of smuggled fuel, which was destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
He also reported 713 DRC citizens who were detained for attempting to violate the border.
Valter Pereira highlighted that after administrative procedures, the citizens were repatriated to their country, through the border posts of Cuango, Caungula, Lóvua, Chitato and Cambulo.
The micro-operation aims to combat diamond mining, illegal immigration, trafficking of minors, fuel smuggling and strengthening public security. QB/HD/CF/DOJ
