Luanda - Angola has risen three places in the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG) 2022 being currently in 40th position, with signs of growing progress.

In 2020, Angola was placed 42nd in the study by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which analyses the performance of the governments of 54 African countries.

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation study takes into account good governance, security, rule of law, participation, human rights, inclusion and development.

According to the study, released on Wednesday, Angola continues to grow in the categories of "security and rule of law," "participation, rights and inclusion," "bases for economic opportunities," and "human development.

The study also concluded that there had been, "an improvement in terms of transparency and accountability.

Within the framework of permanent improvement of the living conditions of Angolans, the Angolan government has been investing in different programmes to integrate and safeguard citizens' rights.

Among these programmes are the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), Support for Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (PRODESI) and Kwenda.

The PIIM aims to implement actions of Public Investment (PIP), Development Support Expenditure (DAD) and Basic Activities (Act), with priority to actions of  social nature.

PRODESI is an executive programme to speed up the diversification of national production and wealth generation, in a set of productions with greater potential to generate export value and substitute imports.

Kwenda aims to include needy families in income generating activities, as well as strengthening the intervention mechanisms of the social protection system.
