Luanda - Angola's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mateus Luemba, paid tribute Friday in New York, United States, to the former President of Hungary, László Sólyom, who died of illness Sunday.
Ambassador Mateus Luemba wrote in the book of condolences that Angola recognises the former President László Sólyom as a beacon of democracy, for the decisive role he played in establishing democracy and constitutional reform in his country.
"During his mandate, bilateral relations between our two countries gained new impetus, particularly in the training of Angolan cadres on Hungarian soil," reads the message to which ANGOP had access.
