Luanda - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, on Sunday in Djibouti, acknowledged Turkey's role in promoting and consolidating the strategic partnership with the African continent.
The head of Angolan diplomacy was speaking during the 3rd Africa-Turkey Review Ministerial Conference, a strategic multilateral cooperation platform, which aims to achieve ambitious goals between African countries, represented by the African Union (AU), and Turkey.
In this regard, he reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to several key areas, which have enabled the provision of peace, security and sustainable economic development.
On the other hand, he reiterated Angola's commitment to continue strengthening this strategic partnership, to ensure that Africa is properly represented on the international stage, through its integration in the G20 and in the fight for a permanent African presence in the United Nations Peace and Security Council.
Téte António said that it is essential to fully promote the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), thus creating new opportunities for investment and trade between Africa and Turkey, and the rest of the world.
The 3rd Africa-Turkey Review Ministerial Conference is held within the framework of the Africa-Turkey Partnership, to, among other issues, analyze the Joint Implementation Report on Africa-Turkey Cooperation, in the period 2022 to 2024.
The meeting aims to strengthen political, economic and social relations between the parties, based on mutual interest, equality and respect for national sovereignty, and the internal affairs of each State.
The partnership covers several areas of cooperation, namely, Peace, Security and Governance, Trade, Investment and Industry, Education and Youth and Women's Development, Infrastructure Development and Agriculture and Resilient Health Promotion.
During the meeting, the representatives of Turkey and the Member States of the African Union appreciated the results achieved in the framework of the partnership.
They analysed the impact of Turkey's support to the African Union on Peace and Security, the Peacekeeping Missions, MINUSCA, in the Central African Republic (CAR), UNMISS, South Sudan and MONUSCO, in the DRC during the year 2024.WF/ART/DOJ
