Luanda - The presiding judge of the Angolan Supreme Court (TS) Joel Leonardo said Monday in Brasilia (Brazil) that his country wants to strengthen judicial cooperation with Brazil, a statement from the TS has said.
The Angolan Chief Justice expressed the intention during a meeting with the president of Brazil's Federal Justice Council, Maria Moura, held on the sidelines of the 11th Forum of the Presiding Judges of High Courts of Justice of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories.
Joel Leonardo presented a proposal for a cooperation protocol, whose aim is to set and implement technical instruments to improve institutional, functional and procedural management.
The document indicates the intention to cooperate in the areas of technical assistance in institutional and organizational development, procedural management techniques and the participation of Angolan and Brazilian magistrates in similar events of common interest and the exchange of legal-judicial and bibliographical information by electronic means.
Maria Moura, on her turn, expressed willingness to extend cooperation with Angola having promised to make a statement soon, after analyzing the Angolan proposal.
The history of judicial cooperation between the two countries shows that a cooperation protocol between the Federal Supreme Court and the Federal Supreme Court of the Federative Republic of Brazil has been in force since August 2014. VC/MRA/AMP
