Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, reaffirmed, this Tuesday, the Angolan Executive's commitment to deepening the potential for cooperation with Germany, in strategic sectors, beneficial to both countries.
In a congratulatory message sent to his counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as part of the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of German Unity Day, João Lourenço also reaffirmed the need to expand friendly relations between the two countries.
The Angolan Head of State paid tribute to the spirit of concord and fraternity that characterized this event, which had an impact on the history of Europe and the world.
“On this crucial date for the reconciliation of the German people, when all the citizens of their country came together again under one and the same flag to rebuild Germany, as children of the same homeland, I want to join in this celebration”, the message reads.
German Unity Day is a national holiday in Germany, celebrated on October 3rd since 1990, commemorating the country's reunification.
Angola and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1979.
The two countries have projects that focus on the areas of infrastructure construction for the production of electricity, the pharmaceutical industry and the field of Hospital Construction and Management.
In 2011 they created the Bilateral Commission, within the scope of the "Common Declaration of Intent”.
It is a platform for the exchange of general opinions on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, responsible for evaluating the cooperation's development.
