Luanda – Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs Teté António reaffirmed on Friday the need for the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP)’s economic cooperation to comply with its statutes.
The current president of the CPLP Council of Ministers hopes that the organisation include, by December, the economic cooperation in the statutes to be submitted to the Summit of Heads of State of the Community.
The minister was speaking at the end of the 27th Ordinary Meeting of the CPLP Council of Ministers, whose political debate focused on Economic Cooperation.
He recalled that Angola has recommended a political-diplomatic agenda based on economic cooperation since it took over the “pro tempore” presidency of the CPLP for 2021-2023, under the motto “Build and Strengthen a Common and Sustainable Future”.
The Angolan top diplomat added that the new strategic vision for 2016-2026, aligned with the African Union's 2063 and UN 2030 Agendas, forms the foundations for the sustainable development of the countries by promoting, among others, economic and business cooperation.
The official reiterated Angola's commitment to contribute to strengthening the role of the CPLP, as an international organisation, in strengthening democratic processes, with electoral observation missions in member states.
