Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on Monday congratulated the German people and Government on the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the Unity Day of the Federal Republic of Germany (3 October).
In a message sent to the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the President of the Republic, highlighted the undeniable achievements of this period, a fact that placed that European country at the centre of the international arena with a thriving economy and a high level of technical and scientific development.
Angola and Germany have had diplomatic relations since 1979.
On 8 July 2011 both countries signed a joint declaration of intentions that created the bilateral commission which is a platform for exchange of general opinions on bilateral and multilateral topics of mutual interest, as well as with the task of assessing the development of the cooperation.
In the scope of the bilateral cooperation, President João Lourenço made a state visit to Germany in August 2018. The former German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Angola in 2019.
