Luanda - The specialised committees of the National Assembly (AN) Monday in Luanda approved the joint opinion report for Angola to join the Smart Africa Alliance Manifesto, which aims to transform the African continent into a single digital market.
The manifesto, which establishes advantages in the implementation of information and communication technology development programmes in the mobilisation of financial resources from partners and the private sector, will be put to the vote at the next Plenary meeting of the AN, scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of this month.
The Smart Africa Alliance is an international non-governmental organisation, made up of African countries that adhered to its manifesto of 29 October 2013, the African Union, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank (WB), the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the private sector.
It is a platform that facilitates exchange and knowledge between its members, with the aim of transforming the African continent into a single digital market and accelerating sustainable socio-economic development through the use of information and communication technologies.
The legal instrument relating to the Republic of Angola's accession to the Smart Africa Alliance Manifesto, which was signed on 29 June 2022 by the former Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication, Manuel Homem, guarantees its members better access to broadband services.
