Luanda - Angola participates in the Ministerial Retreat on Agenda 2063 taking place on October 1-3 in Kigali, Rwanda, under the theme "Accelerating the Implementation of Agenda 2063".
According to a note that ANGOP had access, the Ministerial Retreat on Agenda 2063 will discuss and analyze the "Special Project on Agenda 2063", the "Financing of Agenda 2063 and its Flagship Projects", as well as the "Implementation Provisions of the National Development Plans in the application of the second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063: Domestication, Ownership, Dissemination and Communication".
The event will have a high-level presentation of the main conclusions, lessons learned and recommendations of assessment of the first ten-year implementation plan, as well as the ambitions and main priorities of the second decade of Agenda 2063.
The coordinating role of the Agenda 2063 at national level in most member states of the African Union was taken up by the ministries and entities responsible for national planning.
According to the note, the evaluation reveals that while the oversight function is relatively strong, the coordination and implementation mechanisms are not very effective.
The note adds that in the absence of specific institutional arrangements for the implementation of Agenda 2063, the success of the process in Africa depends on the degree of integration and national capacities for coordinating the implementation of the priorities at national and global level.
Angola is taking part with a delegation led by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Téte António, integrated by the Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, the Angolan ambassador to Rwanda, Eduardo Octávio, and the ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Miguel César Domingos Bembe. VM/AMP
